I have an order for a cake, but the daughter of the woman ordering the cake is a might fussy. She would like a grocery store icing. Too me one that tastes like pure shortening, however that is what she wants. Does anyone know how to make an icing that is whipped and not too sweet? I would appreciate any feedback you might have. Anything I have seen on the internet includes boiling corn syrup...thanks, sue
The store frosting is probably Richard's Bettercreme or Frosting Pride.
I purchase the RBC from Gordon Food Service, but you can also purchased it (whipped) from Sam's Club.
For not too sweet frostings:

hi ive used rich'sbettercream it tastes good but it sometimes comes very hard (overbeaten) i personaly dont like it since i have artheritis in my hands but there is another icing that has the same taste ,not to sweet but only good. YOU whip this one yourself . it comes in a gallon like the milk cartons. and they sell it at sams its around $40 for 4 gallons its cremes unlimited fill and ice, thats the name .hope it helps
thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately I live in Canada and cannot get to a Sam's or anyother store that we don't have here, quickly. I live in a border city so I will venture states side shortly, just not soon enough for the cake and I will go to Sam's. I will try googling Whimsical House Buttercream and see what I get. Thanks again...sue
