Hi Everyone,
A friend and I will be decorating 4 dozen cupcakes on Friday for a Children's Christmas Party this weekend.
Given that this is for kids and also since my friend has never decorated before (she is making the cupcakes and buying all the supplies), I wanted to use Duncan Hines Icing on the cupcakes.
She has bought mini pans in the shape of Christmas trees and snowmen. What is the best way to ice/decorate these? Can we soften the icing a bit and pour it over the cakes (similar to petit fours)? Is there a specific type of icing that should be used?
I don't want to use fondant since this is for kids so your help and expertise is appreciated.
Thanks!
I've read about heating store bought frosting in the microwave for a few seconds and pouring it on in some magazines, but I've never tried it. Let us know how it turns out!
or, you could pipe the star shaped tip all over it...it is somewhat quick, and easy enough that your friend could help. althoug your hands might get tired....but if there was two of you it wouldn't be too bad. it would take alot of icing, so I wouldn't buy the premade canned stuff....how about making some buttercream icing? it is super simple and taste great.
good luck!
