A diaper cake is actually made with diapers for a baby shower. The diapers are wrapped together to form a tier like a wedding cake. There are several layers going from smaller to larger tiers. The diapers are usually tied with ribbons and small baby accessories, like diaper pins, baby bottles, rattles etc are tied to the cake. The finished product looks like a wedding cake.

I think they're really cute. I have been to showers and have seen them. The reason they dont want pics of them posted here is because they're not cake, just look like one. If your crafty, I can see how they'd be really fun to make. Plus, the mommy-to-be has many new diapers and lots of new product for her baby icon_wink.gif
(I have seen some so real, I have thought they were cake!)

Like anything, if they are done right they aren't tacky at all-just a more creative way to display/give the little things a new baby needs. I have made two and I cover the diapers with recieving blankets and then use a coordinating ribbon around each tier along with a few carefully placed small baby item. And they always get an amazing response when you walk into the shower with them. icon_smile.gif

when I make mine I cover with receiveing blankets as well. I have made a few and people love them, they just don't realize that if you want quality items in them it is kinda pricey
