Hi, this is my first attempt at trying to make a "picture" using royal icing. I ntoiced that when I made this it didn't spread real quick. I was afraid to add more water (maybe it won't dry candy hard?). So I left as is and used a toothpick to spread to the edges (gray border).

I'm a beginner, any experienced decorators have a tip for me when trying this again? Not sure what this method of decorating is called..

Thank you!

I think it came out great.

You can always add more water to royal icing and it will still get hard. I've made some really runny before and it did just fine.

Wow, very impressive!

Little Pugsley looks so sad, though - or is he just thinking very seriously?

If I made a dog we would all be here contiplating "what is that?" You did well.
Did you freehand or use a transfer method?

I think it looks cute. Have you tried using color flow? I like the way it dries better than RI. It has more color and is a little more shiney. It is also not as fragile as RI. Great job!!

I love the doggy. He's so cute and conveys so much emotion. Adorable!
I'm by no means experienced to the point of most everyone else on here, but I hope you'll accept my opinion anyway. icon_smile.gif

He's cute....I was sitting a bit far back and the pic is kinda small, so initally I squinted and said "what is it?" Then I moved my blind butt closer where I can see and said..."Awww...it's a wittle puppy...." Good job, I abhore royal Icing...it always breaks on me...so you should be quite proud!
