Help!!!!! Stripes On Cake Go On When???

I am doing a 2 tiered cake and am attempting to do stripes on bottom tier in MMF- do I put the stripes on before putting the 2nd tier on or after? Which is the preferred way?? TIA for ANY help!!!! icon_confused.gif

I would go before so that when you put on the next tier you cover the stripes with the layer. When I do MMF cakes I do all the tiers seperate then stack them last then do borders....HTH
