Credit goes to manyacakes, it is her lovely work in the picture attached.

Can I just buy separator plates and those pillar thingies, and somehow build this? I think it's a great way to make cupcakes look extra snazzy.

How would you attach things together?

Thanks, you can tell I'm new at this.

They have those cupcake trees at wallymart, either in the crafts n fabric sections or I saw some really nice clear acrylic ones over in the housewares section.

I would like to know as well. But is it actually stacked on top of each other or is it just laying in front of each other?

O man just saw that you live in Canada, dang and they don't have wallymart's up there do they? hmmm, sheesh, it's to early in the morning to be thinking. LOL
You could use cake seperator plates if you wanted to I would just "glue" the legs to the previous plate with some bc or corn syrup.

In the picture? Looks like they were just placed round the bottom of the cake there around the excess board.
But you could stack the seperators and place the cupcakes on the seperatorplates themselves.

That cupcake tree is really cool, but is just Wilton Crystal-Look Separator Plates and Pillars. Just hot glue or 527 glue them together.

You could do that with the hot glue. But if you want to use them for cakes after you use them for c.c's I would use the buttercream or good ol corn syrup.

I didn't see anything but a heart shaped cake with cupcake around it...

but bakery craft has a stryrofoam "disposable" cupcake stand that is pretty inexpensive..about 10 bucks...

that you could rent out and if you don't get back..10 bucks non returnable deposit wont' break the bank! lol

I staple pretty papers around the outside of the "plates"

Great ideas, thanks you guys!

This stand will be dedicated to cupcakes, so the Hot Glue approach with the plastic pillars/separator plates sounds right. I guess I just pick 'em up (Wilton?) at my local Michaels......ooh ooh can't wait to try it.

(by the way, we do have WalMart in Canada, but the stock/selection isn't as varied as it is in the US....sadly)

Hey, Missy,

Go to Walmart.com and see if they have what you are looking for there. They have 97 cent shipping right now, which would be about 1.25 for you up there in Canada.

Sorry, the original link I included DID take me to the pic of her cupcake stand, but now it goes to a different pic...so I guess I am challenged at this OR is it possible the link address changes? anyway, sorry about that........

I think I am going to try getting the clear separator plates, columns, and hot glue them into the size of stand/tiers I need, snazz it up a little as well. I'll be sure to post the result (good or otherwise)

Thanks again, you guys are terrific.

It is actually the next pic over. If you click on the right arrow, it takes you to the pic you want.

Check out Maisie Fantaisie's website.............(google it)...her cupcake tower is the greatest I've ever seen. She is using glass circles (custom cut) and acrylic posts. The weight of the glass would be helpful in constructing. I'd use the hot glue idea here too, as you can peel it off when you're finished. She uses this system for tiered cakes also.

so the weight of the glass wouldn't break the acrylic posts? I guess not huh?

Hello
yes WalMart in Canada does carry them; I have seen them at WM in Montreal; You can also check at Loblaws, they have some very nice 3-tiered designs for only $20.

ciao

Here's a link to some stands that missyv110 made with plates & glasses from the $1 store http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-decorating-photos_display_121_-88358.html Maybe something like this would work for you and wouldn't be very expensive.

thank you for that link, i had just looked at those.

I called the glass place in my city and they cost about 23 bucks each round. Not bad to me for something I will continue to use, so I may consider that route. also I will consider the Wilton Clear plate route as well.

The stands'made from the dollar store plates/tumblers have turned out to be SUPER. They're really sturdy, have fallen (no breaks) and importantly, they're really LIGHT for toting around. I think I fit about 17 regular cupcakes on each one...like so:
