I am putting together my ideas for my cake show entry in March and I am mulling over color schemes! I like this one. I want something dramatic! Tell me what ya'll think.

I will be making a four tier fondant covered cake with Lambeth style design. The fondant will be the green and the royal icing will be the light ecru!

I do too and the last three years I don't remember seeing a green cake. I've seen pink, mauve, white, blue, red, even black but no green!!!! I take that back, two years ago there was a mint green but I'm going to go to the other end of the spectrum on that one with this darker shade!

Do you think it's dramatic enough? Now I just need to replicate the color. I have Americolors and I need to see their color wheel to make that exact shade!

LOVE the color combo. Olive and cream (ecru) are always so pretty and classy, yet not an overly done "cake combo" as far as colors go. I think it will stand out as very classy, elegant, and unique. But do we have to wait until spring to see the actual cake???

That is EXACTLY the look I am going for. Plus Lambeth is not practiced much anymore and has not been seen in the cake show in San Diego in over 20 years! I want to bring it back with a bang! My teacher from six years ago encouraged me to give it a try. She has confidence in me so I can't let her or myself down!

I'm going to have to do a trial run with the colors so yes, I'll have maybe just a single tier demo to post. Not sure if I'll get that done before Christmas though. We'll see! My hubby also leaves for 7 months in the middle of January so I don't think it would be cool to spend too much time practicing my techniques. Definately in earnst though after he leaves!!! thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif

I think it is pretty dramatic. I would love to see any pictures of the design idea.

How about their avacado color? It looks pretty close to that olive.
And that should deff be an original color scheme. Complimenting colors too. thumbs_up.gif Could you use ivory and add a tad of light yellow to get that ecru type color? Just an after thought.

Pretty cake! I'm a big fan of "greenery" and I love all of the leaves surrounding your cake.

I have used Wilton's Moss Green on cakes before, and that is really close to olive color.

Does Americolor have Juniper Green? Not sure that I have seen it! That's a pretty green! I'll have to pull out all my greens and see what I have! I have Wilton's Moss green! I'll have to see just how dark I can make that one come out! I have Americolor's Ivory and I think that will be enough for the complimentary color I am looking for!

I am getting so excited to start this I can't stand it!!! icon_razz.gificon_razz.gif Thank you all for your encouragement. It really does make me feel confident that I can pull this off!

So are you going to enter the cake in the San Diego contest? If so, I'm so excited as I will be there and can see it in person! I can also meet you!

Why yes I am! Are you going to enter the show too??? That would be so cool! I have a feeling they will enter me in the Foreign Techniques category again. That did that to me with last years cake!!!

Oh how fun! We must meet up.

No I'm not going to enter. No where near good enough but thanks for saying I could icon_smile.gif

I'm just going to see all the wonderful things and have fun. I live pretty close. About an hour away.

A good friend of mine is on the board for putting it all together. That's how I learned about it.

It should be fun.

Be sure to post before you go so we can set up a time to meet.

I'll respect your decision to not enter but ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!!!! I am not near the quality of professionals but last year I was brave enough to enter my first cake. The previous years I entered the non-cake category and molded chocolate! I had so much confidence after last year's entry!

YOUR GUMPASTE FLOWERS ALONE ARE GORGEOUS! There is a category alone that can feature just a boquet of gumpaste flowers!!!!!!! That purse cake, your present with the tissue cake, your make-up bag cake, the purse! Not good enough my foot! BUT I'll respect your decision!!!! I think you're making a MISTAKE icon_wink.gificon_razz.gif BUT.........!!!!!!! icon_biggrin.gif

My sister and I are entering the show. My sister is working on her's right now. She lives in SD so I stay with her. She's a member of the Cake Club. I know quite a few people associated with the club including the outgoing president, the former president. I learned decorating from one of the members and past presidents, Amy Malone! Linda Bills is a past president and I buy all my supplies from her at Do It With Icing!

Anyway, I can't wait to get started on this cake. thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif I'll be assembling it down there and adding any stringwork down there as well!

The juniper green is made by wilton and the ivory I used was americolor. I have moss green from wilton also and I find it is a deeper green. I'd rather have the juniper green it looks more natural.

I'll look for the juniper green! Hopefully I don't have to buy it in a set! I guess the color I am looking for can also be called a "deep jade"!

Thank you all so much for your help in narrowing down the shade of green!

I've bought giniper green(wilton) by itself often. You should be able to get it alone.
