I entered my first cake competition this past January. My entry was a one-tiered cake with a little ship on top with 3 babies sleeping in it, meant to represent the old poem "Wynken, Blynken, and Nod." I placed third in my division and got a medal, so I was really happy with myself!
Since then I've been not really sure what to do with the cake (it was a dummy). Do I keep it forever? I don't really have the space for that. But I've resisted throwing it away, and it's been sitting in my guest bedroom ever since.
My mom is visiting, staying in the guest bedroom, and she was watching my mischievous 3 year old boy yesterday while I ran an errand. I came home and my little boy ran up to me and said "I eat you cake!" I thought...huh? I didn't make a cake today? My mom started laughing uncontrollably and said "Christopher ate something he wasn't supposed to eat." I'm still more confused....what is going on here? My mom is laughing harder and harder, and says "he was really hungry!" Now she's gasping for air and she can barely get the words out. "Christopher took a bite of the sail."
OMG. 9 month old dried gumpaste. ![]()
Here are the before and after photos. I took a picture with my phone and then dismantled the cake. I guess I have my answer...do not keep competition cakes!
HAHAHAHAHA!!!
That's too funny! If it was any of my kids they would have tried to eat the dummy. At least he ate the edible part.
Well as edible as 9 mth old gumpaste can be.
