my little containers range anywhere to nice and creamy to gooey, clumpy (looks like coffee grounds) to just plain gross.. does glycerine mixed in them get them back to a nice gel they are supposed to be??? how much glycerine do you use and does it change anything??

Thanks
Wendy

I wouldn't use the ones that are grainy and yucky. If I'm not mistaken, they get that way b/c of double-dipping and bacteria forming.

Hi Wendy, I just had the same problem with a paste colour. Don't use it. It will leave little spots of dark colour in your icing. Mine was for a test cake so it didn't really matter. For the small amount they cost I think you should just replace them.

When I first found CC I used Wilton icing colors. (only because I didn't know any better!) icon_redface.gif But I went shopping here at CC and bought some Americolor colors and I WONT use anything else anymore!!!!!These are so much easier, drops at a time instead of having to use a toothpick or something. I would toss the ones that are grainy and go shopping if you can. JMO,

I have some of the Americolors as well and they are nice. I only have access to Wilton if I'm in a hurry so I have both kinds. The new Wilton ones are much nicer to use than the old. More like gel than paste but you do have to use a toothpick with them.
