The gumpaste and fondant class that's coming in February will have a kit if I'm not mistaken; does anyone know what things will be in there? I don't want to buy things that will already come in the kit; it'd be a waste of my precious little money. icon_biggrin.gif

I don't think they have released that info yet. I have a good friend that is a Wilton instructor and she has not heard about it.

I don't think they have even been trained in the class yet.

We are supposed to be receiving our kits and instructions soon. I am sure those WMI's that get theirs first will help you out as soon as they know! We did have training in what they "think" the course will entail, but it was not written in stone when they had us do it.

The "kit" they asked me for was the gumpaste flower kit, it is $20.00,
http://www.wilton.com/store/site/product.cfm?id=3E30D6EB-475A-BAC0-5E5EF66C57041711&fid=3E32BC36-475A-BAC0-5F363A0047978DFF
they also asked for a bag of already prepared wilton gumpaste.

And I don't think is a "course IV" is just a gumpaste class some Wilton Instructors give, they also have candy, cookies and some other... can't remember! That is the info my Wilton instructor told us. HTH

This is the cover of the book, and I am sure the kit will match it. It will be called the Gumpaste and Fondant class NOT course IV. Michaels will teach it exclusively for the first 3 months, starting in Feb. It will be offered just as the Course I, II, and III are. It is not a "speicalty" class. We are all excited about having a new course added to our line up!

Does anyone know if it is going to be offered at any Hobby Lobby or Micheals stores in Tennessee?

Michael's stores will be the first to offer the new course. HL, JoAnnes, and ACMoore I think will begin offering the course in April or May.

I wasn't able to take Wilton III, so would I have to before I took the new fondant class? Will I be lost if I don't take III?

No - the only prerequisite for the Fondant/Gumpaste class is taking Coure I.

Wow, thanks! That's exactly what I wanted to buy, the flower-making kit. I guess I should just buy it anyway? Hopefully Michaels won't have a "buy the 'kit' get the class free" offer in February. icon_biggrin.gif

That flower making kit is NOT going to be the kit for that course. There will be a brand new kit available for the new course.

I had some experience with the Wilton Gumpaste in an Instructors meeting in Nashville. I had no idea that Wilton was going to start offering a course. And I have been an instructor at Jo Ann's for some time now. Interesting icon_confused.gif

The Michaels stores are going to be the ones who have it first, then a couple of months later the others will have the opportunity to teach it also. (Michaels insturctors are to have it on the schedules for Feb. '07) You may want to contact your supervisor if you haven't heard anything about it.

Is this course being offered at Michaels nationwide or just in select areas?

It will be right in line with their other courses ($25. regular price, and there will be specials just like the others) I am realtively sure the kit will be in the $20-$25. range also.

I don't know if it is in just a select area, I think it is going to be nationwide at all Michaels.
