I'm planning a cake for next weekend and I want to make those cute tuxedo strawberries for it. My problem is this...I live in Ottawa and you can't exactly get fresh strawberries this time of year. I can get them frozen. If I were to let them thaw in the fridge, would they be mushy? I've never had frozen fruit before, but I really want to use these tuxedo strawberries on this cake. Thanks for any advice!

ya frozen berries get very mushie when thawed. no way you could dip them. If you ask your local grocer they might be able to get them in for you. I live in Atlantic Canada and we have them pretty well all year at one of our grocerie stores here but they can ba quite pricey at times. I just picked some up yesterday at almost $4 for 1 lb. HTH
