I have 2 boys, the older just turned 8 in October and the little one will be 4 on the 13th.
The oldest has never told me that he doesn't believe in Santa but I think he's onto the whole thing and just doesn't want to say anything. He's really into fantasy and pretend and I could see him just going along with Santa.
We were having a discussion about Santa the other day and my oldest said he'd like to meet the real Santa and my baby told him "Santa's just pretend" ![]()

It was kind of funny to have the little one telling the big one but at the same time I don't want my youngest to figure it out yet.
Thats funny, then again, its sad.
Have you ever watched the movie "Meet the Santas"? Its a GREAT movie. It had me believing in Santa again. I think its on Lifetime or WE (womens entertainment). You should watch it if you can.
My 12 y-o still believes in Santa!! he always been logical, always need an explanations for things. He figured out that must be real because of this:
We always been short on money, and he told me that we couldn't afford two gifts, so he must be real because he gets a gift from us and one from Santa!!! He doesn't know that we, mothers, have tricks.. I use all the points I have from clubs, to buy more gifts. I got HBC prime points, airmiles points, Canadian tire money/points and Esso Extra points. And when I win things in contests, I save them as gifts!!
My kids last name is Noel so my youngest, who's 8, thinks that Santa is his great great grandfather, because in French it's Pere Noel that we call him.
And my 11 y-o thinks she saw Santa in our house when she was four. She always said that she woke up to get a glass of water and that he was there in living room. So she believes.....
Once, on Christmas night, we were leaving my Mom's house and there was a "Santa" in the street with a big bag of gifts (probably it was someone that wanted to pretend in another house for the kids there) and he waved at us, the kids were so in "AWWWW" that they really in him. I wonder how long we can have them believe!!!
we didn't teach our children to believe in santa--i did when i was little--but DH's family doesn't celebrate christmas (but they give gifts
--go figure)
lucky for me (it helped me not be upset w/DH) that my mom told me her cousins never believed either--their parents told them there wasn't such.
my kids know that there's not a
santa
easter bunny
tooth fairy
My children are both teenagers now(19 yr old daughter and almost 15 yr old son), but believed in Santa when they were little. The most depressing Christmas I had was a few years ago when they wouldn't have their picture made with Santa at our local mall. It just made me realize that my babies were growing up.
We still do the Santa thing at our house, but I think they just do it to humor me. I'm a bigger kid about things like that than they are now. ![]()
You should do both...cry and laugh!!!
We believed in Santa when we were little, and my boys ( 4 & 5 ) believe too, but....I have a hard time telling them b/c I feel guilty for lying to them.
I remember when I was small, people would say, you better behave, Santa's watching you....I just can't say that to my children.

My husband still gets a stocking at his parents' and he's almost 30. I have no plans to quit with Santa even if they don't believe. I don't remember much about Christmas when I was still little enough to believe in Santa but waking up in the morning to find new stuff set out was always exciting.
I just couldn't quite believe that my little one told me that, I was worried this year about my oldest spilling the beans. ![]()
Ours believe - sorta. They are getting out of it, same ages.
We tell them of course he is real, because he is! At least it started in truth. There really was a man (monk?) who gave out gifts each December, to help the children get through the cold winter months, is what I was told. No, not Santa Claus, but Saint Nickolas (sp). We go with the legend, not the character.
But they tell us they believe in the character as well. The mall Santas are his elves!
Your spelling is probably correct for at least one country.
St Nick is celebrated on the 6th of December in several European countries, the tradition varies from region to region from what I understand but the kids get something from him. They don't have Santa come on Christmas.

I LOVE THAT STORY & I JUST HEARD IT FOR THE FIRST TIME LAST YEAR
& I TOLD MY HUSBAND HE WAS A REAL PERSON--my DH's family doesn't celebrate Christ birth as December 25th is the reason they don't "celebrate" Christmas--about santa not being real--i guess we just give them presents & i sent the big ones out of christmas morning--just like santa would
