Yikes! I just realized after finishing my entire cake that I did not put dowels in the second layer. What should I do? It is a 10, 8 and 6 layer cake. I have one dowel running though all three layers but forgot extra dowels in between the 8 and 6 layer. Will this stand up or should I take off the top layer and put in dowels! This is only the second layer cake that I have made and I do not want it to crash!

If you are transporting any distance in a car I would take the 6 inch off and put dowels in the 8 inch layer. I know this is very aggravating but I would rather be safe than sorry.
Let me know how it goes thumbs_up.gif

I'm with jibbies. If this was for a birthday party at your house and it wasn't going anywhere, I'd probably chance it. If it's traveling further than your front porch, I'd fix it.

id' fix it... better that than have it fall apart or slide off in the middle of 'happy birthday'! (ask me how I know... *sigh*)

Thanks everyone. Well I fixed it and it looks better now and I hope that it will last now! Keeping my fingers crossed! I wasn't able to put the dowel all the way through all three layers again. Do you think this will be a big problem? I have dowels in the bottom layer then in the middle layer. One dowel is through top and middle layer in the center. Is that enough?
