I am glad to know this. I have been thinking about what to send my brother in law. He leaves in January for Iraq icon_cry.gif

If you send it now, he should get it right after he gets there.

My husband just left for Iraq this last week. I knew a package might not get there in time for Christmas, so we bought a 2' tree for him to pack with his stuff and then a bunch of miniature ornaments. We wrapped them up individually with a little message inside each one. They are numbered on the outside so each day in December he opens another "package", reads a message from home, and puts another ornament on the tree. We started with a garland the first day and the star for the top of the tree he'll open on Christmas. The kids took turns picking out the ornaments, writing the messages, and picking the wrapping paper. Hopefully he'll feel a little like it's Christmas. icon_smile.gif

I sent my nephew some small travel games. Backgammom, Yahtzee etc. They are small enough to be able to store in their lockers, lightweight enough not to cost too much to send and it gives them something to do in their off hours. Oh, and I included a big package of Twizzlers, they don't melt and the kid in them loves them.

My husband's over there and it usually takes about 10 days for them to get packages. The post office here is saying as long as you mail stuff by December 9 priority mail it should get there by Christmas.

Yes, what I've been sending takes 8-10 days. The Post Office has those Flat Rate Boxes - 2 sizes - one about the size of a shirt box and the other about the size of a square cake box. Postage is $8.10 and it goes Priority. The boxes are free.
