I could cry! It's my best friend's birthday party tonight and I promised to help out her DH by bringing a few things. (They have a new baby so any help is appreciated) My friend is a chocoholic so I made a deep chocolate cake with milk chocolate moose filling and milk chocolate ganauch over the full thing. This morning I took it out of the frige and gave it another coat of ganauch. I was running behind so I asked DH to put in to the fridge so I could quickly grab my toast...well I turn around and DH is holding the cake (on a drip tray) and trying to open the fridge door which had closed on him and before I could open my moth to tell him to wait for me to get the door the cake is on the floor! two night of work, best quality ingredients (the 8" cake cost me about $15 in good quality chocolate alone!)upside down on the floor. icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

The party is tonight and I don't have time to make anything new. I won't buy a cake because she has since told me that she can't stand grocery store cakes anymore because she likes mine better. I'll just show up with the chocolate truffle dessert and hope that she isn't too disappointed. I was going to use a chocolate wrap and curls and it was going to be so pretty!!!

I'm so upset. Thanks for letting me vent. DH feels terrible about the whole thing and I don't want to get upset at him over it. Somehow "it's just a cake" doesn't sit lightly with me anymore....

Gosh! I can feel your pain!!! No, it's not "just a cake". I know it was just an accident and accidents do happen. But I know it was so heartbreaking to see your lovely, delicious cake on the floor.

I'm sure the birthday party will be great and your friend will still love the chocolate truffle dessert because it is from YOU!! Have a wonderful time tonight.

Oh no!! icon_cry.gif I'm sorry! I hate that too, all that hard work and money, but maybe the floor will enjoy your cake. icon_smile.gif Tell DH he has to make it up to you somehow. icon_wink.gif

The same thing (minus the DH) happened to me last week hun. I truly feel your pain. but, like everyone told me, just get back up and try again. I ended up having to buy a grocery store cake, and made cupcakes until 1am. If I had my passport already, I'd drive up to NS and help you - I'm in Vermont, not that far away.

How horrible! I feel sick for you. I would have cried just to see all that chocolate on the floor. Don't let my husband know but I won't let him carry my cakes or drive them anywhere. icon_wink.gif

Tell him "diamonds". Diamonds ALWAYS make me feel very forgiving.

(Yes, I can be bought .... it's just that most men can't afford me! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif )

I'm sorry this happened to your cake! Man, I would've been right down there on the floor with my big meat-sized fork!!!

Oh I'm so sorry. Accidents happen, but it takes a while to get over some of them. icon_smile.gif You'll be laughing at this one together soon.

What did your friend have to say?

Sorry I have been online to reply. I had Lasik done I am technically not suppose to be on the pc yet.....oh the life of a cc addict!

My Friend was very understanding when I showed up with the chocolate truffle dessert and no cake. Oddly enough she also suggested that DH should buy me something big and shiny to make up for it! I've already pre-banned DH for ever touching anything that I am making again unless under complete supervision!

Thanks for the support. Sometimes its nice just to have someone else who understands to vent to.

Thanks!

I know you are just sick, but I hope you have a sense of humor about it. Do something funny...I would probably buy a bunch of swiss cake rolls or hostess ding dongs and stack them up like a cake and then throw some really nice flowers on them. Be outragous...then deliver the "cake" to the party and explain to everyone about the "accident" that happened to you and DH. It will be a scream...sometimes a good laugh is better than the real thing.

Then...make her the same cake for her 1/2 birthday as a surprise.

I'm just glad this was for your friend and not a customer...my little shananagan wouldn't go over so well with a real live customer. Ha ha. ~Sunnybono

I'm so sorry this happened.

If it would have been my hubby, he would have been on his hands and knees eating it, literally, by his choice!!
