My dad's 49th birthday is coming up this week, and I'm trying to come up with a creative play on the number 49. I'm thinking of something with the perfect square root, or with the concept of " almost to 50." Unfortunately, I've no idea of how to put any of these on a cake. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

How about 49ers worth their weight in gold? The gold rush theme.

What about a sheet cake with a hill; the number 49 on top leaning over the side a bit. The 4 could be any color; the 9 in gold. Kind of making a statement of almost being 50. 50 being golden. probably corny, I know.
