Can anyone tell me how to use Cel scripts. I do not write good on cakes and think this would be a great help, however I have no idea how to use it. I can't seem to find any instructions or information on them except for purchasing. Any help given would be greatly appreciated.

I would also like to know what they are. I googled cel scripts but the only thing that came up was stuff about stars and things that dont look like they have anything to do with writing on cakes lol

maeliza , Are you talking about the FMM letters that are script? I ordered those and got them today and have been trying to get it too work but can't. I have tried dusting with cornstarch and the half gumpaste & half fondant just will not come out. Anyway maybe I will try it again tommorrow! icon_rolleyes.gif

Linda, to use the FMM letter cutters you need to roll your fondant/gumpaste pretty thin. I successfully use these cutters frequently but had the same trouble you are having when I first got them. Use plenty of cornstarch on the cutter itself making sure to dust it good all inside the letters. If it still sticks then you fondant/gumpaste needs rolled thinner again. Keep doing this until you get it thin enough and that will be the end of your problem for good. icon_smile.gif

Thanks Lea, I am going to keep trying! It does say on the directions to roll the fondant thin enought to see through almost. Tommorrow I am going to use a soft brush to put the cornstarch on with. I really like the "script"! I am horrible at writing on a cake & thought this would be wonderful!

Linda, you are very welcome! The neatness and attractiveness is what made me want the cutters too and I have been using them ever since I got them. They are wonderful and you will love them as soon as you get it down. I think you are there now. icon_smile.gif

I think the original poster is talking about these

They are a pain to use, if you havent bought them already I would advise you to buy the FMM cutters, they are really nice and easy to work with.

If you need instructions for the cellscripts pm me and I will look for mine.

Thanks everyone those are some helpful tips. How do you put words together to make them look like they are scripts rather than individual letters? Does that question make sense?

OOOOHH!! I didn't know if that's what she was referring to or the tappits. I got confused from some of the answers given. Heck, now I want to know -- I have the snowflake mold from CelCakes and haven't used it yet! icon_rolleyes.gificon_biggrin.gif

When using the FMM cutters I also rub a little crisco over them and it seems to help release the fondant or gumpaste. You can also use a needle to help pick it up on one corner so you can gently pull it out.

I have the FMM in script & the regular. I love them. I agree with tiggy2, a lttle crisco is the answer, they work very well. So glad I have them as try as I might I can never write nicely on a cake.
