Maybe top with a few 3-D poinsettia blossoms made of fondant/gumpaste?

I agree poinsettas would be pretty.

There are so many choices for Christmas, that I can't even try to narrow it down. Check the galleries, there are so many!!!
But as for the poinsettias, they are very impressive, and actually very simple. I think they make an elegant looking cake.

A really cool snow scape would be neat - I love snowflakes, snowmen, those beautiful light blue/white colors

I ordered a Christmas cake a few years ago and I thought it was so pretty. I am going to try it now that I can decorate for myself.

This cake was done with a Christmas tree in the center using ice cream cones. Several cones were stacked together to make the tree larger. Then gifts were spread over the rest of the cake. Some of the gifts were made with fondant and were assorted colors and sizes. Some gifts were also made using sugar cubes with tiny bows piped on them. It made a beautiful presentation. I hope this makes sense.

i like snow scapes too. maybe three different sized x-mas trees in one corner - made with ice-cream cones for a quick and easy tree - dust with icing sugar for snow. then in the middle a little skating rink with a penquin on skates. or a couple of carolers with scarves and hats?
good luck!

For my Christmas cake, I am doing the open book style. Nice borders with poinsettias on the left side and script writing of Twas the Night Before Christmas on the right side. Maybe you could make the sheet cake into a book format icon_smile.gif
