Did you let it cool adequately?

Yes, I have learned that the cooling off is very important. I take the top or bottom off and let the cake cool in the other half for 15 minutes or so, then swap the pan halves to let it cool from that side, and I do this until the cake is totally cool...then I remove the cake and immediately dowel through the head just to stablilize it so you can handle it a little better.

I have baked with and without heating core. I baked one the other day without and it did great.
No broken head!! I agree about the cooling time also. They are very fragile until cooled completely.

Thanks, I'm not using the core again.....I'll let it cool alot longer - I followed what the directions said and I guess that wasn't long enough....thanks again, so I am assuming a pound cake is best for this.

When I've used the 3D Bear Pan, I used a pound cake mix and regular cake mix together and it came out perfect. I did use the heating core but when I took the heating core out, I immediately put the cake back in where the heating core was and then let it cool completely.

I used the cake mix extender recipe with DH yellow cake mix and with the core in it, and it worked fine. I too immediately shoved the cake back in once I took the core out.

Okay I let the cake cool down for 20 minutes, removed one side of the bear pan to cool it and the head is broke off again. So, I cooled that exposed side for 20 minutes, replaced pan, turned over and cooling over night. So I am hoping I can glue it back together with BC and put a dowel through it.....will find out later hope it works....cake is due tomorrow...icon_cry.gif
