I was wondering if I could get some help with a cake idea that I've been brainstorming.
My son will be turning 3 in December and he is crazy about the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I'm planning on doing his party around this theme, but I can't decide on how to do his cake. Has anyone ever done this type of cake before .. replicating the clubhouse? Just looking for some ideas..
TIA
Jen
I came here looking for inspiration for the same cake for our son's 1st birthday in November. I've never posted before so here goes. There are a few in the gallery with helpful hints so start by searching there. That is where I got all of my ideas adn game plan.
I plan on making a sheet cake base to eat and then using the Wilton soccer ball pan, 3D ball ball and mini ball pans to make the actual clubhouse. I think cake will be too dense so I plan on molding Rice Krispy treats with the pans and then covering in fondant. I'll be cutting and molding the "foot and hand" of the clubhouse by hand.

Great idea! I didn't even think to use rice krispy treats for the foot, hand etc....
I've come across a couple of pictures of this type of cake, but I was left wondering how they did it without the clubhouse itself being too heavy for the cake.
Thanks for your advise. I'd love to see your cake!
and here's how this has been answered once before

Yikes...all that has me worried now about doing a 3D club house now. But your sketch gave me some new ideas. I think a practice cake or two...maybe 12...might be in order to further tweak the concept but I think this determined mama can do it. So thanks for the link!! ![]()
Plus I learned when making my daughter's Little Einstein Rocket cake that if you get the general shape and color right that the kid will love it no matter what it really looks like. ![]()
