If you are close to anywhere that sells Wilton stuff you can buy the ready to use gum paste. That is what I would do in a pinch. Or just add Gum Tex to fondant. It will dry hard and you don't have to wait.

I would add a Tablespoon or two to a whole batch. I work in small amounts like the size of a tennis ball at a time and add 1/4 tsp. to that.

you can use it right away, but it is MUCH better to let it sit for a day (covered, of course).

If it says gumpaste on the Satin Ice container, it's ready to use.

Unless you want stiffer gumpaste, then you don't need to add any tylose. If you do add tylose, you will have to let it "rest" overnight.

If you need it immediately, cornstarch or powdered sugar will make it stiffer, but weaker.

For amounts - in fondant, add about 1 Tbsp. tylose to approximately 1 cup of fondant. Add in small amounts until it is "tacky". Spread shortening over the ball, wrap it twice w/plastic wrap, and then place it in an airtight container.

For pre-made gumpaste - Add about 1/2 to 1 tsp. tylose to about 1 cup of gumpaste.
