Has anyone done this? I'm sitting here watching early morning TV and of course an infomercial popped in there. I have a lot of anxiety and haven't been able to get out of the house and to the Y for over 2 years (still paying that $55 membership every month thinking I'll go!) and really need to do something. I have 15 pounds to go to get to my wedding weight (I'm 5' 10" and want to weigh 150 which is a good weight for my body type and height).
Good or bad opinions, I want to hear it all!
Here is a link to the program if you don't know about it:

I'm not in bad shape, just need to lose weight, if that makes sense. I studied classical ballet all through school and didn't get out of shape until I got married!
I used to do those workouts on TV with Gilad, but wanted to try something a little different. I do like to do the workouts on FitTV (Sharon Mann, etc.) but I don't always remember to set the DVR!
Thank you!
It is a great work out, when I got it, it came with the two different height steps, the body bar and 3 DVD's. I did like it, but being so out of shape I got discouraged fast. I would suggest you try it, I think they have like a 30 day return policy, nothing to loose!
A friend of mine did The Firm a few years ago. She had great results with the videos. I tried it and I couldn't keep up. It lasted an hour and it was really hard for me to last until the end. It is hard for me to stick to a workout program in general though.
I have it and really like it. I got it a long time ago when they were still using VHS and didn't have the bar. I wasn't in very good shape and didn't have any trouble keeping up as long as I did everything toned down to the minimum level and worked my way up. The introductory videos they sent were a bit long for me, but I got some of the follow up videos they sent and liked some of them a lot better - some worked with my own personal preferences better than others. When you call they try to sell you the kitchen sink along with it - vitamins, additional weights and videos, etc. You may want to try some of the videos, but you have to pay extra for them. I wouldn't bother with the other stuff. You can get the same things cheaper in other places. I've even seen some of their DVDs in the video stores. Anyway, I really like the program and feel good when I'm actually doing it. ![]()
At my tiny local library, they have this DVD workout series in their fitness section along with a ton of others. Try your library first. That way, you can see if you like them or not. Most libraries, even the smaller ones, let you check out materials through the mail if you aren't up to going out, and most libraries have an online searchable card catalog as well.
Also, FitTV is available for free online, too. It's "On Demand" so you just go to the website, pick out which workout you want to do, and press play. No forgetting to set the recorder ![]()
HTH and good luck!
Any suggestions for good stretches to do before/after a workout? I wish I would have been able to take ballet!! Lucky you!
I have some of the older Firm workouts, and acheived great results with them. Currently sitting in the corner, collecting dust the results just aren't happening.
I don't have the newest ones. I post on a different message board and a lot of members there love the Firm, and many say do not buy from Firm direct, they've had problems with them.
Good Luck!
I have several and really love them, when I get up and use them. When I first start out, I take it pretty easy, light weights, slower reps, etc., until my strength and stamina build up. As they say, take it easy when you first start an exercise routine to keep from burning out and wearing yourself out. Make sure to share your results with us! ![]()
I have some of the firm videos, I only purchase the ones that are 30-40 mins, because that's all the time I have. Is anyone a Netflix member? They have lots of exercise videos, I always get them from Netflix first, then if I like them I purchase them used from Amazon, less than half the price.
