Late this afternoon, my kids and I were home, waiting for my husband to get home. A UPS truck pulled up, and I figured it was one of the many Christmas gifts I have ordered online. But, the UPS guy gets out of the truck with a Kitchen Aid box!!! I could not help but see it! I knew my hubby would be devastated if he knew I saw it, so I asked the guy to put it on the back steps. When hubby got home he immediately said, "Did you see the package??!" And I innocently said, "what package??" he smiled like he knew I saw it, but I told him no, I didn't. I tried to change the subject and said I did get a package earlier in the day with my mini ball pan in it, so I can make ornaments...yay!!! I have a stand mixer now, and actually told my hubby NOT to buy me a KA if he was thinking of it, because it's a lot of money and mine is just fine. But I am grateful to be getting it just the same!!

Thanks for letting me share!

Good for you!! Both for the fact that you are getting a KA, and that you didn't burst his bubble!

Congratulations on the new mixer. Sorry you won't be surprised, but at least the color will be a surprise.

omg, I can't imagine getting something like that and NOT tearing into the box! I am THEE WORSE at surprise gifts!! My dh (before we got together) sent me a package for Valentines Day. He said..make sure you take a ziploc bag with you. I totally forgot about that stupid bag (I did nto want to save those stupid p-nuts). I got the box, and like a 3 yr old I ripped and tore that box apart in my car. As soon as I got the box open, there was a ziploc bag right on top...newspaper, etc. I started throwing the paper over to the other seat, and these "things" were flying all over the car! I thought...what the ??!!!! He dumped about 2 boxes of Teddy Grahams all through the box (hense the baggie) and inside was a teddy bear with a bracelet on his hand, earrings in his ears, and he was clutching a bottle of my favorite perfume! Probably the BEST gift I ever received in my life!

Don't be real giddy or you'll give it away! Don't love on him tooooo much, or that will give it away also. Like others said, practice that OMG reaction...throw a few happy tears in there...and NEVER EVER let him know you knew. Let him think he won just this once!! LOL

<GASP> omg kate...DH just said..."what if it AIN'T what you think it is"? What if he ordered something from ebay and they just shipped it in that kind of box?

Those are HIS words gf, NOT MINE! I told him that would just be MEAN!!

Charlotte, that was a great gift your DH gave you! How cool!

NOW...how would that just coincidentally happen?!! PLEASE don't say that's possible?!? icon_eek.gif

actually, this reminds me of the time I found the receipt for my engagement ring (while snooping tapedshut.gif ) and pretended I was VERY SURPRISED when he proposed a few weeks later!! So, I guess I AM good at keeping secrets!!!! icon_biggrin.gif
