I am looking for feedback on what you would consider to be a good food scale, or which brands/styles to avoid. I need a really good one for measuring ingredients and batches of finished candy, etc. I would prefer digital because it's just easier, but they can run pretty high depending on the features, so I wondered what you guys like. I don't want to get one of the old three dollar white plastic ones with the little cup on top and the spring that bounces up and down when you set something on it. You know which one I mean!! haha! I have been through MANY of those! It would have been cheaper to buy ONE good one! icon_wink.gif TIA CC buddies!

I love LOVE LOVE this little guy! I've had him for a couple of years and I swear I use him almost every day, especially since I started cakes.

I have this one. It was $29.99 at Linens N Things and I had a 20% off coupon. It has a 10 year warranty.

Just make sure when you buy, it doesn't have a lot of nooks and crannies that are hard to get to when you want to clean it. I bought one that has a glass platform and it comes half way over the digital reading base. So the area covered by the platform that is directly above the base is hard to get to. I have to thread a piece of paper towel through it to clean.

But I LOVE weighing stuff instead of using measuring cups.

Hope this helps.

I use a scale I got from Weight Watchers... teeheehee.. nothing like making cakes and sweets while staring down at a big weight watchers logo! icon_lol.gif

If you can find out how long it will stay on before turning off automatically is good because the longer the better. And the weight maximum is important too.

The salter I have is completely smooth and wipes off nicely. No crevices for anything to get into and the top is stainless.

I would make sure and get one that goes by the grams and ounces and not buy 2 ounces at a time. Most cheap ones only go buy 2s and thats not good with some foods you will need to make.

the salter brand electronic scale is a great buy. they are not too heavily priced either. you can check them out at their website or amazon. i had to replace mine just last weekend after owning it for 9 or so years. it took a real beating. it weighs up to 11 pounds and switches between oz and grams. you can get them that weigh higher than 11 pounds but i had to act fast and got what was available.
