Does anyone know how to make those chocolate covered coffee beans that you get at Caribou (sp?) Coffee? Would they be too bitter if I just bought some beans and dipped in chocolate? Do you use special beans or chocolate or do something to make them tastier?

If anyone knows, do tell! I want to make chocolate spoons with a few chocolate coffee beans for gifts this holiday season!

Spoons are more for stirring into coffee or hot chocolate. However, you can make chocolate covered coffee beans, or even clusters of them. Use (fresh) whole beans and a good chocolate. The dipping tines or even forks from a fondue pot work really well. You could even find a flat piece of wire mesh, lay over a baking sheet which is lined with waxed paper, mix the beans in chocolate, pour onto mesh, and let excess chocolate drip onto the paper. That would be a lot faster and you could reuse the chocolate for dipping.

Thanks Zmama! I know what the spoons are for, I meant that I would put the two seperate things into a little package together to be a "coffee theme" gift bag, if you know what I mean. I love those beans for snacking! icon_smile.gif

I understand now! A good addition would also be the tiny bags of coffee that are just big enough for a pot. $1 at Walmart.

Thanks that's a cute idea. I'm trying to put together cheap gifts for my large extended family. About 70 in all fram ages 4 to 80, lol. I was thinking of doing a little coffee gift, hot chocolate gift (you know the mix in the disposable bag with marshmallows and tied with ribbon), and then I would also like to make a hot tea gift, but not sure how to put something cheap together. Any ideas? Do people stir things into tea? I could do some biscotti or something maybe and a couple of tea bags? I dunno? Any ideas?
