O.K. Now I've got your attention.......ggg..........I am wondering about those one time use cake pedestals (fiberboard/cardboard) sold as in sweet celebrations catalog and the like.........will they really support a large cake well? I have a wedding coming up for 270 and she does not want a tiered cake. She wants the cascading levels of the pedestal. The plastic ones are a bit pricey.....any ideas ? I have thought of perhaps using styrofoam under a table drape, but I wouldn't get the height of the pedestals. I want cascading levels of cake...not cascading cake.......ggg
We use those all the time where I work. The base is styrofoam and the the "plates" that the cakes sit on are also styrofoam. The supports for the plates are heavy duty cardboard tubes.
As of yet, we haven't had anyone coming back complaining that their cake fell off the stand.
Even though they aren't plastic they do cost bout 30 bucks. They also come in 5 cake models also.
