I haven't had kids but have stretch marks on the sides of my breasts, my tummy, inner thights and noticed the other day some on my outer thighs. Sigh. Hopefully alot of my skin will shirnk up, but you know as you said it can be covered up. It is much healthier to have that extra skin than to have the fat in place under it.

Hey guys. I'm looking for an exercise dvd. I was wondering if any of you have any by Richard Simmons? I think the newest out is the Supersweatin party off the pounds. I use to love to dance so I'm thinking this might be a good one. Any one out there got this one or any that they would recommend? Thanks!!

Hi butternut! I have some of Richard Simmons' DVDs. I have the foodmover so I have the ones that came with it: Blast off series (60s, 80s, blast and tone) I love Richard!!!!! I used to have many tapes of him, but my vcr broke, got a DVD, so I've sold all my tapes on ebay. I can't wait to buy some dvds. The ones I have are 30 minutes work-out! It works great but now I'm willing to do more like a 60 minutes thing. Of course I could do 2 work outs, but I'm feeling like slowing down by changing the dvds and doing the warm up part again... I'll have to check for another one. Maybe the one you talked about could be good for me also!!!!

Hey Pootchi. I believe that this dvd is 50 minutes long. I'm trying to figure out where to purchase it. I haven't seen it at any of my local stores. There's a couple of people on ebay selling them (companies) but they have some negatives so I'm a little hesitant. Amazon has it but it's 32.00 on there plus shipping. On ebay it's 13.50 I believe plus shipping. Hmmm, what to do, what to do.

You know it's really strange, I did in fact look on richardsimmons.com and there are only a couple of dvd's in his store. Neither of course the one that I'm looking for. But what surprised me even more is that none of his sweating to the oldies was on there either. Hmmmm, can't quite figure that out. I really want that Supersweatin Party off the pounds. I think that it's really something that I can work with.

Hi Pootchi. I've been thinking about checking into finding a nutritionist. Can you tell me how you went about finding one? Also, my insurance won't cover anything like that for my pre-diabetes so I was wondering if it was really expensive to have a nutritionist sit down with you and figure out what is the best diet for you. Thanks!!

Hi butternut! I'm sorry but I can't help you... here where I live, we have what we called the State health insurance, which means that we don't pay for anything.... When I saw my doctor 2 weeks ago, I asked to see a nutritionist. So she referred me. When you're referred by a doc, it's free. I can see her for how long as I need to.... It was easy, they have three at the hospital, that'S why my appointement was so quick. I sure wish you could get to see one! If you find one in your area, it doesn't cost anything to call and ask how much for a consultation. Me it took 1½hour with her. So if she charges by the hour you can know how much it would cost you.
Sending you good vibes and positives thoughts!!!

Thanks Pootchi. OH, that insurance sounds wonderful. I really wanted to go to classes and see a nutritionist for pre-diabetes but my insurance won't cover any of it. At a cost of close to $1000.00, I decided to try to find all the information that I can on my own. I'm so glad that you have someone showing you exactly what you should have. It makes it a lot easier, I'm sure. Good luck with all of the changes. I'm sure that you will do VERY well.

I want to join in. I just promised myself yesterday that today was the day I would kick it into gear and get started. I don't have a picture right now but I'll find one and post it. It should make me more accountable, that is my hope anyway. This is incredibly embarressing for me but I am topping the scale at 250. I lost 50 of that two years ago and have gained it back gradually over the last two years. Caking doesn't help! I am 5'6. 25 pounds is my short term goal but I want to lose 110 pounds long term. Thanks for starting this thread! Good luck to us all!

Can I join in as well?? I used to be a member of SparkPeople, but found I just didn't have the time... and gosh darnit. CakeCentral is much more addicting!! But since I stopped there, I've gained back 15 of the 40 lbs I've lost icon_sad.gificon_sad.gif

I've been overweight my whole life, but would love to lose the weight before I get married or have children. A complete fresh start.

My stats: I'm 26 (almost 27), 5'9", 230ish lbs (scared to step on a scale!)

I'd love to be 150 lbs.... and honestly, I have no clue to how much I should weigh, or how I would look at that weight. The lowest I've been is 200 in my recent memory.

Please say yes.. I'm a great cheerleader... rah rah rah!

And I'll be good and get measurements, a photo, and an actual weight.

Hi everyone
Great news we have new members, also like Pootchi said check out the other thread. We can never get too much help.

I forgot to weigh in this morning since I didn't work out. I hurt my neck the other night (while sleeping, however I did that I dont know!!!) Anyway it is so sore I thought I would wait on the work outs for a few days. I will take my measurements tonight and weigh in tomorrow morning and post tomorrow.

Karate - I've had that happen many times. I wake up and can hardly move my neck. It does hurt and it usually last for a few days. You would think that we would wake up if our necks are in a weird position but I guess not. Hope it feels better soon and you can get back to your routine.

Okay ladies, please don't laugh at me. I don't have as much to lose as some of you are dealing with but my situation is just as important to me. I have to get into my jeans before long and I'm pretty discouraged right now. Between my mother moving here from Ca a little over a year ago (and being very high maintainence emotionally and every other way) and then my being immobilized for three months after surgery on both feet a year ago September I have gained at least 10# and gotten terribly out of shape. I ran across this thread by accident, actually it was a blessing, so I'm just going to jump in here.

And before anyone thinks "oh 10 pounds, big deal!" I have to say it IS a big deal to me. Because I don't go by scales, which I no longer own, but how I feel and how my clothes fit I'm pretty miserable. I'll be 56 in Nov, I'm 5'6" and wear size 8 jeans. I need to get my butt in these pants and get them zipped (AND breathe) without the big roll of flab hanging over my waistband. Been there done that and hoped to never do it again! Well....

In the 80's I hit my all-time highest weight of 185, which was a few #'s more than when I was full term with my twins. I worked and worked to get my weight down to around 130, where I have pretty well maintained all these years. I did it by changing the way I eat for life, increased exercise and increasing my water intake. I attribute my weight gain before my surgery to "mother stress" and a year of decreased activity due to foot pain before surgery. After surgery I had 3 months of total immobility (except going to the potty and bed) sitting bent in half with my feet elevated and my muscles going to pot, which gave me a pot. Okay the mother part I can't do a whole lot about because she's just there (not in my home) and I deal with it, but I'm working hard on the other stuff. So now I'm here to give and get support for what is a big deal to each of us.

I want to stress that I'm not wanting to be a skinny minny, just get back to where I need to be for my comfort and health and to not have to buy new clothes. Simple as that, or so I hope.

I love that this thread exists. I think the before and after pics are a great incentive, for the poster as well as others. Nothing makes a difference like knowing you are not along in your struggles. Being an encouragement to others will help you in your own quest more than you may realize.

My hat's off to you all!!
Most Sincerely,
Carol

Wohoo Pootchi!!! Congrats on passing the 20lb mark! That is simply awesome.

I weighed in for the first time in 4 months and I'm at 244.5 icon_cry.gif I want to be 242 at this time next week.

And Carol... there is no way I'd laugh at you or say pah.... 10 lbs, who cares. 10lbs is a big deal! And it is a great goal. And you're stopping the backslide sooner rather than later which is something I can admire. And you can do it! It sounds like you have a lot going on in your life that can detract from focusing on being healthy, but you've taken a proactive step in coming onto this thread~

which reminds me, I've go my photo!

This is probably me about 5 pounds lighter... couldn't find a more recent one... those pants are a little snug now icon_sad.gif

Hope your neck gets better Karate!

Off to start work for me!

oops.. the photos blurry... but it gives an excellent idea of my size!

Has anyone tried Billy Blanks Bootcamp DVD series?? I have that in my DVD collection... I preordered it a couple years ago (how sad it that??) ..I was so determined to get back in shape, and then found out I was pregnant with my second child (we were trying, so it was a blessing!)... the set came in a week after I found out! So I had to shelf that idea for a while! Well, my youngest is now 17 months old and I have yet to break it out! (Well, I did twice and thought I was gonna DIE just doing the Basic Training session... I was about to fall out after the warm-up!) I would really love to lose 10-15 pounds, and tighten up. Has anyone tried this?? AND HOW IN THE WORLD DO YOU GET TO THE POINT WHERE YOU'RE NOT JUST EXHAUSTED while trying to work out?? I have to admit-- I am LAZY. I'll get myself all psyched up to start a workout routine when I lay in bed at night, then by morning, I'm just "too tired" to start that day.

I'll take my measurements later on tonight once I get the crazy little boys in bed. I'm not that big according to most people, (and my husband says he doesn't want me to take my butt and hips away!) but like CarolAnn, it's something that is important to me. I don't want to become a stick-figure by any means, I just want to be comfortable in my own skin again! I realize I'm not going to get my 18-year-old body back, but I think I'd settle for my 20-year-old pre-baby body (I had my first the weekend after I turned 21)!! I'm 24 now. I just wonder if it's possible!

Welcome aboard Carrie!!!
I never did that Billy Blanks DVD, but it seams that's a great one. I only have Richard Simmons DVDs and a few from a local trainer here: Josse Lavigueur, so it's in French, but she's nice and explains very well, I love her.
I'm 33 and my youngest is 9 y-o. I was 129 pounds when I met hubby 14 years ago. I know I won't be able to get back to that, but I' d settle for 135. My highest weight was 220 back in January. When I started I was at 211 last month. Now I'm at 201 and just can't wait to get under that 200 mark!
Good luck!

I definately know I won't ever be as tiny as I was when my husband and I first got married--I weighed 107 pounds and to quote some of my friends "You were as big around as my thigh!" ...I was a size 2. I don't ever expect to be that again. I have too much baby flab left. Mostly on my stomach but I do realize that it's everywhere. I have extra inches everywhere! I have a bridesmaid gown to get into this December, so I need to lose a little weight to fit into it and not look like a sausage!!

Here's my measurements:
Hips-- 35 inches
Waist-- 28 inches
Bust-- 36 inches

A few weeks ago I weighed 126 at my last doctor's appointment, so I'm guessing I'm still around there somewhere. I'd like to lose 10-15 pounds. But I'd totally be happy with 10.

....My husband is home all week from having surgery, so I don't know if I will start the Billy Blanks Tae-Bo Bootcamp this week since I don't want to make a complete fool out of myself in front of him (I'll save that for the 17 month old who cant tell yet...although I can totally see him belly-laughing at me!). This week, I am going to start drinking water (I'm originally from Georgia, and the sweet tea followed me up North!! ...and Coca Cola....That's gonna be the hardest part I bet!) ...So I guess the plan is to cut out snacking, and drink lots of water. Cut back on my portions. Because I can eat and eat and eat just because it tastes good, or because "I don't want it to go to waste!" HAH. I really think my biggest problem is that everytime I lose weight, I start thinking "OH, I've lost some weight, so it doesnt matter if I pig out a few times a week again", then end up gaining it all back. My husband says I'm beautiful and doesn't want me to lose my butt and hips, and he likes me like I am now, I just remember being a lot more comfortable in my own skin when I was thinner.

LadyDZA, are you pretty short? I was trying to figure out how weighing 126 could possibly be fat!! That's less than I weighed before I had kids...I don't mean any offense or anything, of course. I'm just wondering if you're under 5ft tall and small frame? This goes to show that everyone's bodies are different.

Good luck on those 10 lbs. It can be alot harder when it's "just 10 lbs."
