Hello!

I am thinking of taking this class at the AC Moore near me. For those that went through it already, how did you like the class? Pros/cons in general.

Thank you. thumbs_up.gifthumbsdown.gif

I have taken a class with wilton and another person. I prefered the non-wilton person classes, she had a bunch of fun easy ideas.

Honestly it's going to depend on the instructor. I took the classes and didn't care for it because they let the wicked witch of the West teach them. But now I'm an instructor, and everyone loves my classses because I am fun, entertaining, supportive, and bring them little gifts now and then. Also, I teach them secrets, I don't stick to ONLY Wilton stuff. I add in little tricks of the trade! Hope you give it a shot!

I agree- it depends on your instructor. I took mine at Michaels. Ask if you could sit in on a class one time at one store and then go to another. Whichever instructor you like best can be your instructor if you so choose to take it at the particular store. HTH.

I agree as well, totally depends on the instructor. Mine went page by page out of the Wilton book and didn't give us any tips or tricks along the way. By the end of the session she looked bored to tears and was skipping lots of stuff. I still learned things though as I went in knowing nothing icon_lol.gif Good luck with which ever you choose!

Hi to all-
I am fairly new to this forum, so please bear with me as I learn how this works. I took all three classes at Michael's and they were a blast! My instructor was so much fun and even six months later she still e-mails me a couple of times a month just to say Hi.
I hope you go for and enjoy them as much as I did
Good Luck!! icon_biggrin.gif
PS- Beware- these classes really got me addicted to this hobby!!!

the wilton classes are a great place to get your start!! i took the classes at a michael's, my instructor was okay, but it's nice to come away from the classes with an instruction book for future reference...
it's worth giving it a try, the student kits also get you set up with the basic supplies that you'll need... it'll help you figure out if you like it enough to go further.

Sweetsbycheryl:

I TOTALLY agree! I LOVED my classes and my instructor (Michael's). My instructor actually called me with Course III changed because she thought I might be interested (uh...YEAH!!). We still e-mail from time to time.

In fact, I was in Course II when my husband had to have heart surgery (TOTALLY unexpected). The class called me on my cell to check on my husband and to tell me what they were learning while I was in the waiting room! It really meant a lot to me!

I took a very small cake class through my church - I was one of three students, and I am now taking classes through Michaels. I have enjoyed my Michael's classes so much - I have learned a ton of techniques there and our teacher is great. The teacher at our church cake class just taught us what she picked up through the years on her own, but at Michael's, I learned the proper techniques and why we do it that way, and to me it makes much more sense. Plus, I couple what I learn there with what I pick up through CC, and I'm getting a lot better! icon_smile.gif

You should definitely take the class. It is worth the $. They are always running special discounts on classes and supplies and the 40% off coupon every week helps too!

I have taken all 3 courses at Michael's and enjoyed. I learned a lot in each of the classes but of course the practice is what makes you better and better. icon_smile.gif
