I would be very careful! Siberians have very high prey drives and most view cats as bunnies, squirrels, or other critter that is to be chased and killed. But it is possible for them to peacefully coexist if the dog hasn't already made up her mind. Have they been in the same room loose together and how did the dog act then? You know how they get "that look" and posture when they're stalking something? If she has that look, then I wouldn't trust her. If she seems more curious than anything, then try it slowly. Have one person hold the cat on their lap and have the dog on a leash so they can sniff & you still have control over the dog. How long have they lived together?

If the cat hisses and would swat at the dog, I tend to think the dog would back off. My MIL's cat used to do that to one of my Sibes and she (the dog) continued to be curious, but never ate her icon_wink.gif Usually one good scratch on the nose is enough.

Our dog plays with squirrels! Caught a baby possum, buried it but didn't kill it. She buries EVERYTHING but the cat is purely indoor, so no chance of that icon_wink.gif

The cat is the one who hisses, dog just wants to get close. They have been in the same room a few times, but no blood yet. They've lived together for 4 months, but the dog is usually outside during the day and in the kennel at night. With it getting colder (and her behavior improving greatly) she has been let in loose for longer periods while we are home. She's like a friendly bull in a china shop, but hasn't even got close enough to sniff the cat before the cat runs.

I'm just afraid they're playing nice because mommy is watching.

Zmama, it sounds like they might be ok together. I would definitely supervise for a little while longer though, and make sure the cat has a safe place to run to if needed.
