Hi gals and guys! I am in need of working brain cells!! I am to do my greatnieces 1st birthday cake in a couple weeks-mommy wants Tinkerbelle-I have seen 2 cakes with Tinkerbelle but one was green (not quite babygirly to me)-the other was just a piece to put on a cake-anyone got a better idea? I like the pink etc. look. I have the other 2 cakes that are due around that time taken care of-just tinkerbells the issue! Thanks.

That is absolutely beautiful-I guess I could do a buttercream transfer as I am not THAT talented-no way could I handpaint on fondant like that! Mine has to be for about 40 people.

Hi. The other thing you might try is an edible image of tinkerbell or a gel transfer. You could find a picture you like of her and blow it up to the size you need...then transfer it to the cake with piping gel. You could use pretty pink borders and maybe some lavender and lime green. I think that is a cute theme for a little girl. I hope you will post a picture of the cake. icon_smile.gif

A gel transfer is when you take a coloring picture or any picture you like and trace with piping gel and then apply to the cake.

Some people like to trace them on wax paper...but I usually trace it right on the regular paper.

I like to frost my cake and then smooth. I will put it in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes so the icing will get firm. That makes it easier to transfer your image. You can trace with clear or black piping gel and then trace back over it with buttercream icing after it has been applied to the cake. I usually fill in with tip 16 stars or thinned buttercream.

Hope this helps! icon_smile.gif

I made a cake for a Tinkerbell party for a 3 year old. The mother wanted a Tinkerbell cake without Tinkerbell on it. She just wanted wings. So this is what we came up with. The wings are made with royal icing. But I think maybe the ruffles would look little girley with the tinkerbell colorflow that denise2434 suggested.
