my birthday is coming up soon & my mom just told me that because we (DH, kids & myself) were going to be gone for Christmas, we could do something before, so the weekend before is my birthday (& that's cool with me--no prob) THE PROBLEM IS i want to do a cake for my birthday & i don't know what to do......AT ALL--I'M CLUELESS---HELP ME OUT, should i do a christmas theme birthday cake

also, there are so many things i'd like to try, just don't know which one.

just thought a few ideas from my loving CC members might help me--

TIA

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the look of the pale blue icing with tons of glittery white snowflakes all around......that wouldn't be SOOOOOOO christmasy!! Hey your birthday is the same day as my DH's LOL What about combining the themes?? Like having santa and some reigndeer sitting around a table eating birthday cake?? Or with party hats and those blower thingies?? Maybe some balloons ties around the reigndeers paws? Depends on how crazy you wanna get!

What about a topsy turvy cake with a Christmasy/Birthday theme. You could have santa delivering a little birthday cake in his sleigh with the reindeer (all in fondant)....Maybe have some presents on the different tiers???

I think you should sit back and let someone else bake you a cake...( I know it is hard icon_wink.gif) relax and enjoy and then in your mind you can think of how much better you would have done it!!!

LOL icon_biggrin.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif the only problem with that is no one else will bake it--my sweet mama will say, "i'm going to sam's to get your cake" & truthfully if i had to have a store bought cake, it would be sam's club--b/c nothing around here even taste good to me

so even if i don't decorate it--you can bet your butt, i'll bake it

no way i'll let my mama icon_surprised.gif

so i like the snowflake idea & the topsy, wondering how to do both--i don't need that much cake -haha--DH doesn't believe it santa (LOL) & we don't raise our kids to, so santa's out--plus i could hear my sisters now--they'd be looking at the cake wondering what in the world those little brown things were b/c i haven't ever modeled (or whetever u call it)--so i'd have brown balls w/pretzels for legs thumbsdown.gif

please keep the ideas coming--thanks

HMMMM b-day, Christmas, Florida? How about a lovely pink flamingo with a merry christmas hat? Or maybe even beautiful christmas flowers - Candy Cane stripes? Gingerbread House? Cake Ball tree? Heck it's your birthday!

You should do a little tiered cake with mini wrapped presents all over it. That is kind of birthday/Christmasy. You could even put a little tree on top. That would be fun! I also love the white/pale blue crystal look that KHalstead mentioned. SO classy!

I think a topsy turvy cake sounds great. As does the snowflake idea and the candy cane stripes... you could do a 3 tiered cake, one with the snowflake idea, one with the candy cane stripes, and one with red and green squares for christmasy colors.... or maybe the top cake could be done with a palm tree or something that means alot to you like my husband loves palm trees and we had to pull over at the daytona cross over to take pictures of darn palm trees when we were leaving from our disney vacation lol... when his birthday arrives in July (the 3rd :-s so close to the 4th) I'm thinking of doing a recreation of that daytona cross over or something that means alot to him since he loved his first and only trip to florida and disney with me and my family and he loves palm trees for some reason lol.... I dunno hun do something that means alot to YOU icon_smile.gif
