hi,
I'm hoping someone out there can help me out!
I'm looking for a recipes for a Persian Rollet pastry. It is like a jelly roll - a thin sponge cake filled with a coffee flavoured pastry cream and then dusted with chocolate. In typical persian pastry shops they usually look like a tree or log I was told.
It is so good.... and my Persian friend would love one for her birthday.
Does anyone have a recipe? Or know of where i could find one. Most of the persian shops won't share theirs ![]()
Thank you so much!
Does your friend speak/read Farsi? If so, she could try to find a recipe on an Iranian/Persian recipes website. Did you try looking online or at the library for a book on Persian desserts? You also might want to try allrecipes.com. They have some ethnic recipes, but be creative in your search criteria, most people don't label the recipes with their native name, or it differs by region.
Good luck! Let us know if you find a recipe for one, it sounds yummy!
Thanks for the wonderful tips! I never thought of checking out the library. Hmm.. maybe that will be my mission tonight!
I've attempted to do a fairly thorough internet search and didn't want to ask my friend since I did want it to be a surprise, but you reminded me, I should maybe ask her sister and try to have her keep it a secret! They both speak and read Farsi.
If I find anything, I'll definitely post back. It is a heavenly dessert!
Thanks again!
It is basically a Buche de noel. You can also fill it with different fillings line chocolate whipped cream or creme chantilly or just jam. I make my Buche de noel with just creme chantilly
Here is a recipe link:
