If I mix 50% gumpaste and 50% MMF and make the loops for a big bow, how long will it take to dry hard?? Please, SOMEBODY, help??? I need them for a cake to be picked up on Thursday morning and I am exhausted tonight, so hoping I can make it tomorrow. icon_redface.gif

I think you'll be ok if you do them 1st thing in the am..I've made bows before and they dried enough to use within a full day. I haven't used gumpaste but have used fondant with gum trag added.

I have made the bows twice with gumpaste and both times they were ok the next day to use. My guess is you'll be fine.

You should be just fine. 24 hours should produce a fairly dry bow.

I agree - make them first thing in the morning and they should be ok to use by Weds evening icon_smile.gif

I agree as well, just keep turning the open side of the loops over so the air can dry the insides faster. You can also make the loops and string them onto a bamboo skewer or wood dowel (like the rings on a curtain rod), suspend the skewer over two drinking glasses so the loops are hanging in mid air. And leave a little space between the loops so they aren't touching one another.

one thing to keep in mind..some colors will fade as they dry..from direct light..I made a bow awhile back and it started out as purple and within 24 hours it was dry but more of a shade of blue so try to not leave them in a very sunny part of your house. Mine weren't in direct sunlight but there was enough light shining into the room to fade the color

That is where petal dust or luster dust works so well. Purples and blues are such hard colors to get a true hue, they do fade as they dry. Let them dry, assemble them with royal icing or melted white chocolate colored in the same shade as the bow, let them dry again and then dust with your favorite blue or purple petal dust, if you want them to shine, dust over them with super pearl luster dust after you have dusted with colored petal dust. Don't forget to dust the insides of the loops too if they are going to show.
