Hi all,
which would be better? chocolate or royal icing and if so..do i put them on wax paper first and transfer them?
i am doing a cake for halloween and i want to have spiderwebs on them...

My opinion is that the chocolate would be sturdier to transfer than the royal icing - I tend to have more difficulty with my RI when it has to be thin.

do you make them thin or thick? when melting the chocolate do you use cream or water?

I like using candy melts best. They just don't break as easy as royal, but you do have to watch the heat from your hands when you are doing thin pieces. I put them in the freezer for about 15 minutes and then make sure to handle them as little as possible.
Personally, I would pick chocolate.
A. because all you have to do is melt it ver. measuring and mixing Royal and B. it's YUMMIER! ![]()
In answer to your other question, yes I would do them right on the wax paper then transfer them. Make sure you make a few extra for breakage.

i've never used candy melts....do you melt them in the microwave/double boiler? how do you use them?
If you use choc., do some practice runs. When I use real chocolate (like a bag of chocolate chips) and I freeze them, I get problems with the temperature changes and the pieces end up turning a light brown (due to the fat content in the chocolate separating). The melts from Michaels seem much better in that respect and don't give me that kind of trouble. good luck
