I have a request to make a cake for an Octoberfest celebration. They just want something that will taste great, but I don't really need to decorate it. Does anyone have a great cake recipe that you think would make a big statement? Thanks so much!

The Darn Good Chocolate Cake recipe (under recipes here) is really good. For Octoberfest though, I'd probably make an apple cake or a pumpkin cake since those are fall flavors. I haven't tried this recipe, but it would certainly go well with Octoberfest celebration. It's Gingerbread Cake with Stout Buttercream:

I was going to suggest the stout chocolate cake. I've not tried it but it gets good reviews.
