I love McCalls but haven't found a supplier for it in the US so I use choc-o-pan from www.intotheoven.com It's made from white chocolate and is sooooooooo good!

your welcome christi.

oh mandy, i beg of you... STOP THIS MADNESS!!!! did you know that you can buy satin ice for about the same price as wilton???? YES, ITS TRUE.

wiltons 5 lb box is about $16 dollars right? so a little over $3 per lb. well, i buy satin ice, in the 20lb container for $50, plus 11 shipping, so it is $3 per pound, yet a zillion times better. yes, i know its more expensive to buy the smaller containers per pound, but if you only use it for accents, rest assured, that if you actually take into consideration that satin ice can be rolled thin thin thin, it will last longer than mmf or other brands, so it therefore even CHEAPER. the manufacturer website has a chart www.satinfinefoods.com that shows how many OUNCES (yes, ounces, not pounds) you need to cover a cake based on size. it goes twice as far.

i dare you hehehe icon_smile.gif

Yes people do eat fondant. I don't get a lot of orders for fondant cakes because my customers don't want to pay extra for it. But I have done cakes with fondant decorations and the fondant was eaten. It was home made fondant with salt added to control the sweetness and flavored with butter/ vanilla flavor.
I had a cake tasting and I made 2 cakes covered in fondant and the fondant was eaten, no one was peeling it off. My customers love my cookies covered in fondant.

I like how into the oven posts their shipping rates. I placed my first order from them a few minutes ago-Thanks to this thread. thumbs_up.gif It is cheaper than the cake supply shops in my area-even with shipping!

Thank-You for great information!

And yes we eat fondant- as long as it is not Wilton's brand!

I like Fondex and I can't wait to try Satin Ice.. I am ordering a small one later on tonight to compare the taste to Fondex. Fondex tastes good.. it's very mellow and not overly sweet and sort of melds with the buttercream underneath. Wilton shouldn't sell their fondant.. it's just gross and I only use it to cover cake boards if I run out of the good stuff. Like Melysa said.. Satin Ice is just about the same cost as Wilton and it has to be WORLDS better if everyone raves about it.

Thank goodness someone invented a better fondant then Wilton. That stuff is horrible! I've heard, but never tried, that Euorpean fondant is suppose to have a good taste.

I'd love to order some Satin Ice. Do you just order right from the site?

Do you use this to cover dummy cakes as well? I'm have a heck of a time with the Wilton fondant and my dummy cakes. icon_confused.gif
