Just wondering if anyone has made cake balls/truffles using fruit cake?? I was trying to make a batch of my mini plum pudding style fruitcakes and they all flopped... was experimenting - which didnt work obviously - and now am left with a stack of teeny tiny fruit cakes... and as I was cleaning up wondered if anyone has made cake balls out of anything but regular sponge cakes... if so, what was the mix... either I try to decorate these and hand them out as "cake samples" or I ditch them in the bin -- shame really cuz the one I ate was REALLY yummy!!!! icon_rolleyes.gif

Thanks for any suggestions!

Just try it, if the cake tastes good, you raelly cant go wrong. I say, go for it, and don't forget to post. Better than throwing it out and wondering what could have been

Hi, I'm planning to make fruit cake balls out of a regular lemon pound cake that I will bake from scratch. I will soak some candied fruit with rum then I will just mix them to the crumbled cake to form cake balls.

Haven't done it yet I'm in the process.... I want to give it as gifts for the holidays.

I think yours will work out if you will try it... you can't go wrong with cake balls.
