When making the WASC do you mix it all at once or split the recipe in half and do it twice? I am using a kichenaid, 5qt I think, will it all fit? I just want to make sure everything gets mixed properly.

I mix all at once and it fits fine. I usually like to mix all the dry ingredients (as suggested in the recipe); but I also mix all the wet ingredients and add in portions.

I just used this recipe for the first time last week. It all fit in my kitchenaid (not sure of the size but it's probably the smallest one). Although I found that I had to mix on low as I added the water because it came pretty close to sloshing over the sides. It did work and once the water was mixed in I put the speed up higher to finish the job.

Yes. In a 5 qt KA mixer, it all fits. I mix all the ingredients on low until incorporated, then let 'er rip. It looks like it's gonna go over the sides but won't.

Good Luck!

What's WASC? I've racked my tiny brain, but I can't figure it out. icon_confused.gif

I like to put half of the wet ingredients in the bottom of the mixer bowl, then the dry, then the rest of the wet. It all fits fine for me, and, yes, lorrieg, the cake is wonderful (and it slices really nicely, too!).

Does it taste really almondy? I have a wedding in a couple of weeks and they want a white cake. I don't think they want something too almondy though. Vanilla was what they asked for.

My personal opinion is that it doesn't really taste too much like almond, just that it's an improvement on white cake flavor. More "rounded", if you know what I mean. Try it first on your family (make a half batch), with the icing you intend to use. Then you'll know if it's right for the situation.

Thanks Odessa, that's just what I'm going to do. It sounds like what I am looking for.
