I Have To Make A Nut Free Cake
Baking By ISatinxSheetsI Updated 27 Nov 2006 , 7:33am by ISatinxSheetsI
Someone has requested a nut free cake. Do I have to buy special ingredients that are from a nut free plant? I'm a little nervous.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a cake mix for allergy sensitive customers. I have seen these sold at Target.
my guess is if you make it from scratch and the recipe has no nuts you are fine too.
i would do a s cratch cake and look at the ingredients, the packages will say"processed on equipment with nuts" or "may contain trace amount of nuts"
I have a tree nut allergy--so I can sympathize a bit!
Most of the Duncan Hines and Betty Crocker mixes are safe and do not say "may contain traces of tree nuts." Definitely make sure that you read all ingredients and make sure there are not any "may contains" (even many frostings, fillings, and chocolates are not safe)!! Just the other day, I needed to buy a raspberry filling and discovered that the Solo brand raspberry filling has "may contain tree nuts"!
As long as you're careful, read all ingredients, and keep contaminants away--you'll be fine! If you have any other questions about allergies, I'd love to help!
Thank you for the link Lisa!
My only concern is if making a cake from scratch and the ingredients package lists "may contain traces of nuts" I can't use that, correct?
I have made several. You just need to use a all butter recipe for the cake. And yes you need to check every ingredient. As far as the plants it deppends on how severe the allergy is. I was able to do it with ingredients found at my grocery and cake store. Avoid chcolate chips because they have soy, Veg oil soy, Premade fondant and such.
Here is what I used
Ingredients
Eggs whites
Granulated Sugar-C& H Sugar
Unsalted Butter-Crystal Farms or Land O lakes
Cocoa Powder-Hershey or Tollhouse
Salt
Baking Powder-Clabber Girl
Baking Soda-
Buttermilk
Whole eggs
Merkens Dark Chocolate --Chocolate Liquor, Sugar, Lecithin (An emulsifier) and Vanillin (an artificial flavoring)
Cake flour Bleached wheat flour, Niacin, Iron, Thiamin Mononitrate, Riboflavin and Folic Acid
