They were beautiful! I don't know how I missed that one last year. I wish they would have a cake challenge with just regular cake decorators. I think that would be neat. I'm sure there are some CC'rs that would do an awesome job!
I agree!!! Beautiful!!! Someday I wish to be that good....or even half as good ![]()

Yep...it was a re-run....but a whole year has passed so I hardly remembered it. I think I was more impressed with the same show a year ago! I was really watching them as they worked.....sloppy fondant work....crooked piping....broken bases? I guess the pressure can get to the pros as well.
OMG!!! That cake that won was amazing they did such a good job and he had such great ideas. I saw alot of things being used that I have never seen in my life. One guy had a thing that you roll out that makes the scroll work and then he used something else to make it stand out. I wish I knew where to get some of the things that where being used. They all where very good at what they where doing. That one guy though was to full of himself. But the one who won was very talented.

I can tell ya. The thing that made the patterns is called an impression or embossing mat. Then he used a rubber brayer with gold coloring to apply the color to the top of the embossed pattern.
You can get impression mats at baking supply shops and rubber brayers can be found at craft stores and rubber stamp/scrapbooking stores. You can also use rubber stamps to make an impression on fondant.
