could help me find them..

Fall leaf cutter sets almost actual size of the leaves. Supposably (sp) there is a whole set of them. I know they will be expensive but I need them so I can cover a cake board with fall leaves in fondant.

Larger size bottles of Chef master gel colors

Acorn molds and a tutorial on how to make pine cones and fur tree needles on the branch with holly berries icon_smile.gif

I want to do this cake for a fall festival and I need all these things.

So if any of you graciously sweet helpful CCers can help me please do so...Im a poor soul in need of direction LOL

Thank you so much

Christi

I just bought a set of leave cutters. They were made by Wilton. I found them with the fall and Halloween stuff. There are different leaves and acorns and different sizes. I think the set was like $8.00. I found it at Michaels.

Ok Christi, you peaked my interest with the description of what you are doing! I found this website.....http://www.fromnaturewithlove.com/SpecDet.asp?product_id=moldacorn&sizecode=49 I also found some on Ebay, one of them ends tomorrow.

As for the colors I have no clue what you are looking for but I hope this helps...http://www.pastrychef.com/LIQUA-GEL-COLOR-SET_p_7-769.html

There was a Wilton discussion on pine cones that I found and someone mentioned Wilton Encyclopedias, so you may want to try and track that down at a library.

Good luck!

Thank you Christine for all of the info!!!! I appreciate it. I think (if I am thinking right) that acorn soap mold will be a little to big icon_sad.gif BUT maybe I can get the ones on Ebay..Going to check on them now

The chefmaster gel colors are so vibrant, and they are a professional grade. The red you don't have to use much of and same with the black, they also have a miriad of colors that americolor doesn't carry icon_biggrin.gif , I am not going with all their colors because they are hard to find but I love the ones I have seen

Someone also said something about Winbecklers books....if anyone has one can you check to see if he has a tutorial on pine cones and pine needle branches in his book? might be worth a buy icon_smile.gif

Thanks again icon_smile.gif

You can always make a mold of an acorn with gumpaste...just press the gum paste into the mold and let it dry.. to do a 3d one just use 2 pieces of gumpaste one for each side..All you really have to do is find the perfect acorn.. HTH

Do you have a "Homegoods" store near you? They have a TON of leaf cookie cutter sets that are actual leaf size in all their stores around here (NH) & they are very reasonably priced.

Hey Christie-one of my favorite places to find items is

http://www.cakesbyjan.com/

She ships SUPER fast and reasonable and is VERY helpful if you are looking for something specific. She does carry the Chefmaster gels and has the leaf cutters, but I don't know what size they are. If you emailed or gave her a call, I'm sure she'd be able to help you out. She is in Maine, but ships the same day you order if before 10am.

I have all of the Winbeckler books....he is my buttercream hero! In his book of "Buttercream Flowers" he shows how to make: pine cones, acorns, and pine needles. He also shows how to make fall leaves from buttercream, if you wanted to stay with all buttercream. For the holly berries though you would need holly leaves..not pine needles.
Everyplace I have ever worked, we have used the Chefmaster colors. You are right, they are the best. We always ordered them from wholesale places though. I don't know if you can buy them for at home use.

I might be able to step you through making the pine cones, pine needles and acorn if you can't find the book.
Have fun with your project.

Swheatsue I sure don't have one of those stores icon_sad.gif

Thank you Monilyn I am going to check it out icon_smile.gif

Mgdqueen I am going to look at that site to. Looks like I might have a bunch of sites that I need to go through. I might be making DH mad this month with the bill lol.

Oops BCJean I didn't mean holly berries (I must of been thinking about Christmas) I meant just the acorns or pinecones icon_sad.gif ...I was thinking of doing some bc work ON the cake but fondant on the board and cake . Thank you for the help icon_smile.gif I might have to take you up on that! Or is the book hard to find you think?

Thank you teecakes for the site!!! icon_smile.gif

Ok, I didn't see if you wanted BC or fondant pinecones, but one of my Taste Of Home Holiday cookbooks had an easy way to do it and they were SUPER CUTE! http://tasteofhome.com/Recipes/Chocolate-Almond-Pinecones

I also seem to recall an article on here that tells you how to make your own cookie cutters.. but I can't seem to get to it right now... icon_redface.gif

HA! I found it! http://www.cakecentral.com/article73-how-to-make-your-own.html

As far as pine needles, do you want them to be edible? If not, just color round toothpicks green and arrange them in a pine-y way... if you want them edible and full size, I have no idea. If you don't mind miniature pine baughs, I would use RI, but then agian, I use that for everything since I'm really lousey at BC! icon_lol.gif

HTH!

I have always liked the quality of First Impressions silicone molds, great for fondant or gumpaste, chocolate as well. Here is a set of pinecone and acorn molds.

Those are very nice, ShirleyW. I think I will order both of them for the holidays. They would dress up a cake nicely! Thanks for the link!
