For all of the talent we have on here, what is the one thing you CAN'T make that you wish you could?

I can't make pies to save my soul! As long as the dough comes out of the Pillsbury red box and the filling comes out of a can, I'm good, but to make a scratch-pie-crust, with scratch-filling? It never works and I've just given up.

It may be a childhood scarred memory that is my barrier. I remember one thanksgiving my mom said I could make the pie. I was about 11 or 12. Well, I mixed that flour and water together, rolled it out and baked it. Geesh! No one TOLD me I had to put shortening and baking powder in with the flour! As you can imagine, it was a little tough! icon_redface.gif

I've never tried made-from-scratch homemade breads either, but I'd like to try it someday ..... if I get the nerve!

Beautiful hand modeled faces in gumpaste or fondant. I can press them in a mold and paint them with quite natural faces, but I can not do really exquisite features by hand.

Everyone has such amazing talent here and what makes it even more amazing is that all these wonderfully talented artists come here and share their secrets with us amateurs!! I consider myself lucky to have found this website and will keep on practising with my decorating. thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif

Nati,

This is the best scone recipe, light, moist and tasty. Was never much of a scone fan because too often they are dry or like rocks. But these are great and I make about 400 a week now.

Molding fondant/gum paste has proven to be very difficult, indeed. I sent my husband out to buy a toy car, in a panic, because after 4 attempts at car building I gave up. Faces are not my best, either.

Such a long list. I can't make pie dough to save my life. I have a tough time with scratch cakes, they seem to come out to dry. And I can't stay away from my DVR!!!!

I could write a book on things that I've messed up on. And I'm the type who gets frustrated and likely won't try it again. The one thing I'd like to know how to do is buttercream roses. Never made a good one. I tried the rolled fondant rose this weekend and almost gave up but finally they turned out. I'd love to be able to decorate cakes like the rest of you on here to. I guess I need to practice practice, practice.
