Hi all,
It seems like the only time I post on here is when I need help. I made a 1/4 sheet cake for my son's birthday and when I was taking it out of the pan on corner broke off. Can I repair it and still frost it, and if so how do I do that. I have never had to do that before. We are having the cake tomorrow. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Happens to everybody!

Just take your piping bag, and carefully squirt a lil' bit of buttercream under the piece where it fell off, and "glue" (spackle if needed!) the piece back on...

Then, just frost over it carefully.

This will happen to you time and again--soon it won't be a biggie at all!

Put it on your cake board and "glue" the corner on with BC.

Stick the cake in the freezer or fridge to harden the BC up well.

Once that corner is relatively solid crumb coat and put the cake back in the freezer or fridge to set up.

Then frost.

Buttercream glue to the rescue!!! icon_lol.gif Just spackle it back together with your buttercream. It will be fine.

You should be able to use your icing to "glue" the piece back on and then just ice over it carefully.

If that didn't work, maybe just cut off the other corners so they match. I know that sounds a little strange, but at least would salvage your cake. Janice

Thank you. I appreciate all the tips. One question though. I am still not sure what you mean by "glue it back on". Do I glue it to the board? Or actually glue it to the rest of the cake? Boy I feel really stupid right about now!!!!!

GLue it to the cake, with BC between the big cake and the broken piece.

Then, glue to the board a little, just to be sure!

of course....alternate plan...

cut off other corners to match -- your own "original design" and then make cake balls from the scraps.
