My First Post..and My Daughter's Birthday Cake

Hi all!
This is my first post, although I do admit to lurking for the past month while I decided whether or not to get back into cake decorating. It has been about eight years since I last decorated a cake (lots of family and work issues). I am addicted to Duff's show, and he was the catalyst to me getting back into decorating.
So, I made the decision to go for it. My daughter's 17th birthday was the 16th of Sept so I told her that I was going to make the cake, rather than buying it. (We both watch Duff together, so she knew that I had been toying with the idea.) She is a very strange child whose favorite holiday is Halloween. She told me that she wanted pumpkins and spiders. She also told me that I would wear the cake if I dared to put flowers on it. Well, I did put flowers on it, but since they were black roses (and a couple of red)I didn't wear the cake! 
It ended up being three tiers and the hit of her and her friends! It was the first time that I used fondant and molding chocolate.
I look forward to spending time here, and doing more decorating.

Thanks for the welcomes! i made the spiders with a combination of molding chocolate (LOTS of black candy dye) and black licorice. It took me forever to get them to look like spiders...many tears of frustration 
before I was able to get them to look right. The chocolate would get too soft, I would have to start all over... and over...and over.
by the time I reached the roses I went with FAKE!
