I prefer to cover my cakes with rolled buttercream but I have not been able to paint it like I do fondant. It seems that the surface of the rolled buttercream is to 'greasy'. I tried to paint the surface with luster dust and vodka but it just didn't work.

Is it possible to paint rolled buttercream like you do with fondant?

i use rbc all the time and i don't seem to have a problem with it. but i do use less shortening and less corn syrup than called for in recipes and that could make the difference. good luck.
