Ok so how does it work when you cover a cake with fondant & use the diamond impression mat? Does it show up in the fondat as easily as it does with bc? I hope this makes sense. Thanks

It does, but you have to work very quickly before the fondant starts to harden, or else you will get cracks where you press the impression mat on.

I am just getting started with fondant, so I have been "playing" with it... I have tried both ways... rolling it out and using the mat BEFORE I put it on the cake, and then putting the fondant on the cake and just pressing the mat into it..... either way seems to work.... I would think though that unless it is an all over pattern, it would be better to do AFTER you put the fondant on the cake.....

DEFINITELY do it after you put it on the cake, especially with a diamond pattern or else your pattern will not be straight once it's on the cake. If the fondant stretches, your pattern will be totally off if you do it before you put it on.
