Do you guys deliver your 2 tiered cakes with the fondant accents suspended on wires already placed in the cake? Or do you wait until arrive to the site then stick them in to be safe?
I have a delivery about 35 minutes away today for this cake and it has stars on wires that need to go into it behind the number. The cakes are covered in fondant. I have LITTLE experiance with fondant so i wasnt sure if it might tear...

THANK YOU!!!

I insert my wires into cocktail staws or coffee stirrers. It add stability for the wires. They may very well tear your cake/fondant if you don't.

I had an hour drive today with my stars on wires stuck directly into my cake and they were fine BUT i have done it when the wires are quite long and they move around alot so if they are very long or you have time i would do it on site

I do the same as alanahodgson. Don't ever put bare wires in a cake. For extra holding power, you can smear some fondant on the wire before inserting it into the straw or cocktail stirrer to help hold it in tightly.

If its a burst of stars, you can bunch them all together and insert them into one large straw or a plastic dowel filled with fondant.

Just squirt a dot of icing over the hole. Since it's behind the topper, no one will notice anyway.

The straws most people are using are the little coffee stirrer straws, so these don't show up very much and are easily covered by a small dap of icing.

Even with fondant? It wont look funny with the tab of icing?

Also how do you charge your delivery fees. I think i am jipping myself. Currently charging $5 delivery in my county( I live in Miami) I have to find a better way to figure out how to charge

Thank you everyone

As long as the icing is the same color as your fondant, no, it won't look funny. Try to get your hands on those really skinny coffee stirrers. You won't need to worry about holes in the top of the cake. One would expect to see some sort of small hole if something is popping out of the cake.

OK I definately will . I was chicken and brought them to her and said the cake looked just beautiful the way it was and she could add them if she liked. But next time I will be prepared. Thank you all so much!
