Can someone please explain to me what the difference is between pearl dust, petal dust, and luster dust. Do they look different on a cake?

They are absolutely different from one another.

Petal dust is a matte finished dust, which is used for color, highlight, and shadow.

Luster dust is shiny, but not iridescent.

Pearl dust is a finishing dust, which shines with iridescence (the multi-colored shine of a pearl). It is normally used as a top coat, which is then buffed with the applicator brush, for a high shine.

There are several threads on this subject in the archives, which go into deeper detail.
