So, I had a client call me from Texas, they are coming to celebrate her hubbys birthday on the Beach in Miami.

She asked me if I could make a cake in shape of a Tequila bottle, a particular brand. I was like...OK..since it was my first bottle, I was conservative on the price...but ok.

I made the bottles for the double birthday and found out they are pretty easy and worked out the kinks and had a great time making this bottle.

Well, I had made a simple syrup with the Tequila to soak the cake with and when I trimed out the cake, I was left with all this cake soaked in expensive Tequila.

What to do?

CAKE BALLS! Tee hee.

So, I started to make them..got about 30, one ounce balls of caked that I dipped in white chocolate. ( unfortunately I used the Wilton chocolate so they look more like CAKE ROCKS..lol)

Man, are they good! I'm giving the customer 1/2 of them and using the rest as samples..lol

I'm putting them on the bottom of the cake to make the bottle look like it's on the "ROCKS"..lol

Tequila on the rocks! The customer laughed her head off! But loved it!

Well, we can always con the liquor store guy into giving us the sample bottles in exchange for a couple of dozen SPIRITED CAKE BALLS?

what say you?

Oh by the way, since I made the simple syrup and only used about 2 ounce of Tequila, it was pretty sweet, not bitter. It still had the Alcohol flavor but didn't knock anyone socks off.

I was unable to put about 4 on the board so those went out as samples right away! teehee..I got teamed by the spa girls! lol

I'm just going to have to blame it on the late night of work the night before..lol**

Oh, no, don't use all your Asti for cake balls! Asti makes the best bellinis in the world. Ever had one?

Take some fruit nectar or puree (white peach is the original recipe) and get it good and cold. Pour about 2/3 of a tall champagne glass of Asti, then fruit n or p to about 1/2 inch from the top. Stir gently and sip. Yum!

Olive Garden makes them with Asti, and they are wonderful, not too sweet, not bitter like dry champagne or prosecco.

Yep, there they are Venidian Sunsets - Asti, pineapple juice (sweetened I think) and grenadine. That's what I want for wedding punch. But, you see, I am TRYING to find a way to use up leftover champagne, so maybe there will be some leftover icon_lol.gif from the 2-3 times a year I actually open a bottle.

Here's an OT - Champagne and Asti can be used to replace white wine in any recipe. I made a wonderful chicken recipe called Portuguese Chicken, with a creamy white wine sauce. I had leftover Asti (can you believe it?) and used that, and it turned out great. I got the recipe from www.allrecipes.com

I already tried the Grand Marnier with a little orange zest, they were great. I also tried the rum with chocolate and walnuts, champagne and champagne with lemon.
I already have Thanksgiving customers asking if I making them for Xmas and can they put in an order now.

Pineapple cake, Asti binder, wrapped around a marachino cherry -- sunset cakeballs

Orange cream cake, tequilla binder, cherry candymelts - tequilla sunrise

Chocolate cake, Kahlua, frozen - mudslide

Orange cake, strawberry shnapps - strawberry stripper

If you invest in orange oil to add to the chocolate, there are TONS of drink-based cake balls

Great for Valentine's Day. Roses, champagne & chocolate all in one item.

Asti is Champagne, but from the champagne grapes that grow in the Asti Valley , the only sparkling wine that can be called Champagne has to be from that particular area CHAMPAGNE...

I think..

some fried brain tid bit or other..lol
