Did you know you can take hard candy molds and cut out the bottom and use it for an impression mat? icon_surprised.gif I just made a planked wood floor and it is awsome! icon_eek.gif You can purchase the molds from www.wineandcake.com and they are very inexpensive.

Boy do I feel stupid... I don't understand how you are using them. Or what you mean by "cut out the bottom".

Since it's a candy mold, it has sides with the impression in the bottom. You'd just be cutting the sides off and using the bottom as an impression mat. Hope that makes sense!

You're not the Lone Ranger on this one Brandi. What candy mold? And why would you have to cut it to use it if it's the bottom, or outside of the mold?

Hey tiggy,

That is where I do my shopping icon_surprised.gif Boy, they have so much...I feel like a child in a candy store as soon as I walk through the door. No one wants to go with me, they say that I stay in there too long...I can't help it icon_lol.gif

They have so many wonderful molds, cutters, etc., and their baby item molds are fantastic!!!

The mold is made to pour candy in and the impressions are on the bottom so when you turn the mold over to pop the candy out it will have the impression on the top. To make an impression mat out of this mold, you have to cut out the part that has the impression on it so you will have a flat impression piece. I hope that makes sense! I can picture it in my mind, but translating it at this time of night can be tricky!!!

Okay, I didn't get it at first, either. I was not looking at the right kind of molds. If you look at the houses category, you will get a better idea of what tiggy2 is talking about.

ETA: What size is the mold that you used for the wood?

Jenlg: I didn't know either so I looked it up in the dictionary!

dra·gée

1. A small, often medicated candy.
2. A tiny, hard candy used to decorate baked goods.

Guess the brain wasn't working as hard as it should have here. Always thought they were just decoration, didn't know you could eat them.

As some say....we learn something new everyday!

I used it on fondant and it worked great. You have to cut it out because the impression is on the inside. Then you just press it on the fondant or gumpaste (I used a rolling pin) and you have your impression. The size is approx. 6 x 7 1/2
